The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, faces battery charge
After police arrested the rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, he received an arrest warrant from Texas, also on a battery charge. He was booked into Miami-Dad jail before midnight on Thursday and was expected to make his first appearance in court on Friday. He will remain in custody until further notice, Miami-Dade Corrections said in an email referring to Juan Diasgrandos.
Kirk, who was most popular for his single "Suge", was in South Florida for a New Year's Eve performance at the Miami Florida beach. Thursday's incident began at the Novotel Miami Brickell, where Kirk was living, the arrest report states.
The promoter told the police that he fled to his hotel room fearing for his safety. The punching person told investigators that a man with Kirk took his cellphone, a bank card and $ 80 in cash.
Later, Kirk returned to the hotel and the two victims identified him to the police, who arrested him.Kirk was denying the involvement in the incident.
Last week, Kirk was handcuffed in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina on charges of possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.
