Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue appear to have the mystery. As their 40th wedding commemoration drew nearer, they chose to ask 40 years long-term cheerfully wedded couples what they found out about keeping love alive. The appropriate responses fill their big name packed book, "What Makes a Marriage Last: 40 Celebrity Couples Share With Us the Secrets of a Happy Life." Thomas sees the incongruity in her extensive association.
"Marriage?" Thomas asks in her foreword. "I was the young lady who never needed any piece of it. That is on the grounds that marriage didn't appear to be a spacious enough spot for me – and that is putting it pleasantly. Truth be told, I generally had some shameless comment to offer regarding the matter – like 'Marriage resembles living with a prison guard you generally need to please.' " She was advancing her TV unique "Liberated to Be… You and Me" in 1972, when she at first showed up on "The Phil Donahue Show."
