The Bombay High Court has rejected all petitions declaring Aarey Colony of Mumbai as a forest. After the High Court's decision, the work of cutting trees also started in Aarey Colony late Friday. Many protesters reached the spot to protest against this. Shouted slogans on the metro rail site. Meanwhile, the police have put barricades on all the roads leading to Aarey.
According to sources, "more than 800 trees have been cut. More machines for cutting trees have been ordered on site. A team of fire department is also present on the spot. No one is allowed to go in the radius of 3 kilometers of the area. Over 100 people were also detained by the police on Friday night. The media was also not allowed inside. The protesters shouted slogans at the metro rail site. During this, people clashed with the police".
In the midst of all this uproar, Section 144 has been imposed in Aare on Saturday. People are not being allowed to gather in the area. The Mumbai Police has also registered an FIR in the case. A case has been registered under Section 353 and other sections of the IPC 38 people have been detained and 20 people have been arrested.
Amidst this ruckus, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi was taken into custody by the police. He had tweeted that he had come to come.
Meanwhile, many celebrities have also protested when trees are cut down. Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray tweeted and protested and also targeted the BJP government at the Center and the state in gestures. "He said that if forests are being cut in this way, then there is no use of speaking on plastic pollution".
