President Trump tweeted an image of an American flag late Thursday amid reports that an airstrike had killed a top Iranian general in Iraq.
Trump tweeted at around 9:30 pm. Thursday night was not accompanied by lessons. The president sent a message after reports from Iraqi state television that General Qasem Solimani, the head of Iran's elite class force, was killed in an airstrike at Baghdad's international airport.
"General Solimani was actively developing a plan to attack US diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region," the statement said. "This strike was aimed at stopping future Iranian attack plans."
